About TribalMamma
TribalMamma is a unique fitness program created by a birth worker for expecting mammas. It is based on sounds and movements from tribal communities around the world. Incorporating positions and movements that we as birth workers encourage during labor, allows our warrior women to practice these moves so that when labor begins she has them imprinted in her memory! These movements, positions and affirmations will become rituals that will help baby wiggle down the birth canal using gravity and keep mamma grounded during labor.
What do our classes offer?
1) Each TribalMamma class combines exercises to tone the muscles for optimum function during labor, and to help the body recover faster in the postpartum period. Pelvic floor exercises, toning of the arms and legs are all included.
2) TribalMamma is a low-intensity fitness program utilizing mindful movement and dance versus a hardcore cardio workout. We practice connecting our movements to the way we feel, to the wave of contractions, and to gravity.
3) We incorporate positions for labor that are proven to help your body work for you to give baby the best advantage for a natural birth.
4) We recognize that support and community are so very important during pregnancy. Our group classes provide the natural formation of a tribe as our warrior women connect and interact with other expecting mammas throughout a large part of their pregnancy!
5) During each class we have a short discussion segment where the instructor will provide a new tip to help our warrior women through pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond. Topics include: nutrition, sexuality during pregnancy, sexuality postpartum, handling a crying baby, breastfeeding, hemorrhoids, local resources, labor tips, and more!
6) TribalMamma honors the fact that all women are strong, all women are fierce, all women are nurturing, all women are warriors, all women are unstoppable, all women do what men cannot and all women are TribalMammas.
